Expect to be captivated by the all-new 2021 Kia K5 coming this fall at Spinelli Kia, the proud replacement for the Optima!
So there it is, we can now say goodbye to the Optima and welcome to the new 2021 Kia K5, the release date of which is scheduled for next fall in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec. Although Kia Canada hasn't yet unveiled prices for the 2021 K5, we can expect something similar to the Kia Optima, which sells for around $28,000. Available in LX, EX and GT-Line trim levels, the new K5 is a gorgeous mid-size sedan, and its lines reflect more sportiness, elegance and character than the one it replaces.
It's easy to guess that the designers went to great lengths with the K5, and we can't help but congratulate and admire this new sleek silhouette, with an incredibly striking front end that seems threatening. The lowered, ribbed and rounded hood, as if it were trying to bite the road, the lower, full-width grille that stretches out to the zigzag-shaped headlights that have been named Heartbeat, the bumper and its large openings, including those in the corners that house the fog lights, it’s all sublime.
The charm continues inside, where the new interior features wide horizontal lines, an 8- or 10.25-inch center screen, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel that's slightly turned towards the driver and gives more of a cockpit feel. What's more, with its new N3 platform, the K5 is lighter, stiffer and more agile on the road.
Standard on the LX and EX versions is a 180-horsepower, 1.6-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 195 lb-ft of torque, mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. To enhance performance as well as fuel economy, the new sedan features an industry-first, the Continuously Variable Valve Duration technology.
In its GT-Line variant, the K5 takes performance to a whole new level with a 2.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that offers an impressive output of 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, matched to the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. All-wheel drive is available as an option. There's also a huge array of driving aids, including Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Driver Inattention Warning and Lane Keeping Assist.
Even though we really appreciate summer, admit that you too are looking forward to this fall to finally discover the splendid and high-performance 2021 Kia K5 at your Spinelli Kia dealership, located in the West Island of Montreal, just a few minutes from Laval.
